Our Story

Today in America, we are missing crucial education for individuals and families on how to handle their finances.  So many questions go unanswered: How much money do I need for retirement?  What amount should I be saving each month?  What products and services will provide the best financial plan for my family?  The answers to these questions are not being taught in junior high, high school, and even most general education courses at colleges and universities nationwide.

We as Americans make great incomes compared to much of the world, yet so many of us are very unprepared when it comes to having adequate savings and proper retirement planning.  We are highly educated in our fields of specialty, but when it comes to financial literacy, most people don’t know what to do, or how to even start.  This is where Common Sense Financial can make a difference!

The crusade of our company is to bring a common sense approach to the unfamiliar topics of money, retirement, and long-term savings.  Our marketing plan is to meet one-on-one with as many individuals and families as we can to educate and create a personalized financial plan that meets their financial goals.  We are a grassroots movement striving to teach and educate, and thereby empower Americans to take control of their finances.  We invite you to join in our crusade!

FOUNDING LEADERSHIP TEAM

Rod Tietjen

Rod Tietjen

Rod was born and raised on a ranch in Alaska. One the many things that life has taught him is the value of hard work and the importance of planning as the harsh winter environments required it. Soon it was off to school, and a new phase in Utah. This is when he met and married his wife Tina. They have four children. Rod spent many years in the Computer Science world working as a Software Engineer before finally being introduced to the financial services industry. As he quickly learned more and more, he realized that so many common sense financial concepts are just not taught in school or life. He has brought his past knowledge and expertise to help build a better experience for our friends and clients as the Chief Technology Officer of the company.

Jason Bergquist

Jason Bergquist

Jason Bergquist has worked in the financial services industry for over 17 years. Building his business, and teaching and educating families has become his passion. Jason spent some time working with a large financial corporation, but while at Merrill Lynch, he realized he missed going out and meeting with families one on one, and really helping those in need. He feels that showing people better ways to plan for their future and giving them options to help them accomplish their goals is the most satisfying part of what he does. He feels Common Sense Financial truly has the best products on the market to help people realize they can dream of a better life, especially in retirement. Helping get Common Sense Financial off the ground and running as a new player in the industry has been a blessing for Jason. He looks forward to helping Common Sense Financial reach their goal of becoming the company with the most licensed agents the industry has ever seen, so that they can change the lives of more families than any other company in history. Jason lives in Riverton, UT with his wife Stacey and their 5 kids.
